Floating Worlds – ELOA Unique Lights & Japanese Woodblock Prints

Discover ELOA’s mouth-blown glass objects in “FLOATING WORLDS” at the Anahita Sadighi Gallery. Our sculptural lights — including PLEIADES, DSCHUBBA, and the debut of ERIDANI — enter into dialogue with the poetic beauty of Ukiyo-e, the iconic Japanese woodblock prints from the 17th to 19th centuries. These prints capture fleeting moments — landscapes, night scenes, intimate encounters, and the vibrant life of Edo — highlighting transience, beauty, and atmosphere. Master artists such as Hiroshige, Hokusai, Utamaro, and Sharaku innovated with gradients, perspectives, and lyrical compositions, influencing European artists from Van Gogh to Monet and Matisse.

You are invited to a special event at the gallery on 29 November 2025, from 14:00–17:00, to experience these works in person, as part of the ongoing exhibition “FLOATING WORLDS – ELOA Unique Lights & Japanese Woodblock Prints,” running until the end of December 2025. This special event on 29 November 2025 takes place during the Charlottenwalk in Berlin, when around 40 galleries in Charlottenburg open their doors for visitors.

DEBUT OF ERIDANI AT FLOATING WORLDS

We are especially pleased to present ERIDANI for the very first time in this exhibition. Inspired by the star Epsilon Eridani — a symbol of renewal and creation from dust — the piece unifies fire, wood, and light in a single sculptural object.

At its foundation, the base of ERIDANI is formed from charred reclaimed wood, each piece carrying the deep marks of its previous life. Originally used as a tool in the glassblowing process, this wood once shaped molten glass; its grooves, burns, and textures remain as quiet evidence of that history. In ERIDANI, these traces become not only functional support but an integral part of the narrative — a record of transformation preserved in the material itself. The charred wooden base serves as the support for an individually mouth-blown glass luminaire.
